Award-Session Bluesbaby 45 high headroom

Great review. I’ve recently bought an Award-Session 5E3-Extra and agree with you about build quality and detail. I mostly play early electric blues and tend to play cleaner (but not jazz clean) than most people I know, and this type of amp is spot on.

Thanks for the kind comment! For clean to mild overdrive sounds you can't really go wrong with these amps.
I really liked mine (the smaller non high headroom blues baby) but found they didn’t sound great with the drive levels approaching medium levels of gain. They sounded muddy to me , much like the Blues Jr. I ended up trying a Boss Blues Driver as a final throw of the dice and it worked brilliantly and turned it into a fantastic all round amp as the cleans and edge of breakup sounds were already superb
That's interesting! What cab did you put yours in?DrCornelius said:I really liked mine (the smaller non high headroom blues baby) but found they didn’t sound great with the drive levels approaching medium levels of gain. I bought it complete but it looked suspiciously like a Blues Jr cabJazzy_Jake said:That's interesting! Did you buy the cab from Session or was it a second hand amp? The cabs made by Session are laminate birch as far as I know, but are the same dimensions as a Blues Jr cab. I actually put my amp in a custom pine cab that has the same dimensions as a Blues Deluxe and it definitely benefited the overall sound.DrCornelius said:I bought it complete but it looked suspiciously like a Blues Jr cabJazzy_Jake said:That's interesting!
