New bass incoming - Sire Z7

So, I've been after a Musicman Stingray-style bass for a long time.  The Sterling Sub series just didn't seem to cut it IMO, and the Ray 34, while really nice, has always been outside of my price range, so I've never really taken the plunge.  I got wind of the new Z series basses, and saw that Andertons have plenty of stock, so have recklessly doom-spent savings to get my hands on one in Antique White.  On paper they look incredible, though I don't know much about Sire as a brand.

I'll report back tomorrow when I've had a good play.

Nice. I feel your excitement. Just had a look at them. I like the pickup choice. I expect a good range of sounds and plenty of power if needed. Happy days.

It's wonderful.  Sounds great, amazing build quality and finish, and incredible value for money.  I'm really enjoying the single coil in the neck position.  My only criticism is the awful knobs - cheap feeling and don't sit flat on the pot shafts - they turn like a playground witches hat.  They're aluminium, but have plastic bushes inside.  They'll be replaced asap.

Nice!

Does it sound like a ray when only using the bridge pickup?

Yeah, it's not far off tbh, but I'm still figuring it out tone-wise.  Need to get it cranked properly through an amp and have a proper play.

I so wanted a Z7 bass to be a seven string Explorer.  ;)

Sparkling frets. Very tidy. Nice big thumb rest/pickup near the bridge too :)
Checked the Anderton's price ... very reasonable ... and a nice looking instrument. :-)
