Looking for a Streamer or NS2 type but don't want to spend megabucks.

What's the general consensus on the Chinese import Warwicks and Spectors ?
Comments
They are as decent anything Chinese import which is pretty good. However used values on German Warwicks are currently still pretty rock bottom compared to the new prices.

so would you go for an older German one for £700 ish over a new Chinese one ?

I would and I have - albeit years ago when the sums of money involved were smaller.

I landed my German-made Corvette Standard for a very modest price. Out with the ghastly MEC Dynamic Correction passive J-style pickups. In with a pair of the ol' Seymour Duncan Active EQ "switch" pickups. This is the bass that I keep on a stand near the computer for spontaneous home recordings.

I also have a severely battered Streamer Pro M. Again, the passive MEC Double J pickup was muffled shite. I experimented with various EMG and Duncan/Basslines pickups before biting the bullet and paying for the active MEC Double J model. It is brilliant.

Yes, I have 3 German Warwicks all bought second hand (the cheapest was £175). Unless you want a Short Scale in which case RB is the only option for a Wick.

i pulled the trigger on an import Spector Legend 4, and i'm really pleased with it. I took it to rehearsal yesterday and my real bass player loved it
