Mapex drum kit.

I bought this set for my son but after a year of lessons, he decided drumming was not for him, and he’s sensibly sticking to guitar.  I know next to nothing about drums. I bought it locally, from a gigging musician who used it.

I was helpfully told this was a Mapex Pro M kit.  I’ve since noticed a “V” on the Mapex labels, so presume this is V series. It is probably therefore made of Basswood. It has a cherry red lacquer finish.

As you can see, it comprises of 5 drums, a high hat and two symbols.  The cymbals/hi hat are Paiste and Zildjian.  The drum skins are Evans.

The drum and cymbals diameters are:

Kick drum - 19”
Snare drum - 13.5”
Floor Tom - 12”
Smaller Tom - 9”
Larger Tom - 10.5”
Hi hat - 14” (201 bronze)
Thin crash - 14”
Ride cymbal - 20” ride (201 bronze)

Kit includes a bass drum hitter, stool and two sets of sticks.

Any questions, do ask and I’ll do my best to answer.

Collection only, from Solihull, near Birmingham.

Looks to me like a Mapex Pro M kit; I know because I have one. It is a birch kit, that's the cherry red lacquer finish, its an absolute value for money monster and tuned properly can sound better than kits 3 times its price. I've had loads of compliments over the years on mine.

Whoever buys it I recommend clear resonant heads, coated batter heads and putting cotton wool in the floor tom to handle the resonance for lower tunings (thats a Benny Greb trick)

GLWTS :)
