Here's a description from fastonebaz, which I'm sure will serve as an inspiration for all of us

A few weeks ago I was basking in the heat of dry wooden sauna at a popular forest spa resort, and whilst gazing out through the tall glass windows across the forest of pine trees, I realised I really liked the audio that was playing in the background.  It was a slow drum pattern dripping with reverb, accompanied by a simple deep bass and an eerie piano melody.  It seemed to go on for ages, although in reality I had to escape the heat after a few minutes for fear of melting away.  The sound stuck in my mind and I thought I could try to create something similar for everyone's creative juices to flow forth.

Record your solo over the top of it and then submit it (ideally in mp3 format) to solos@theFB.co.uk
Also, feel free to comment on how you approached the solo, which will add a bit more interest and maybe we can learn something from each other.

There should be headroom to record your solo. Try to set a level without excessive master limiting, because we want to avoid loudness wars.

Voting will start soon after the submission deadline, with each voter selecting their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.
First choice gets 5 points - Second choice gets 3 points - Third choice gets 1 point
The order and scores of the top three entries will be announced soon after the voting ends.

No prizes. It's just for fun.

As people submit their entries, I'll post them below to hopefully promote some discussion on approaches used for the solo:

Ooh I forgot about this one.   Let's get our shred on :)
This is the last backing track in my stockpile, so if anyone fancies creating a future one?

Sent one in.

Charvel San Dimas Pro Mod with some overdubbed harmonies.
Sent one in...

It's in the playlist.

Mine's in the playlist.

Ibanez AZ2402 Prestige into Helix Native.

I had a go and sent mine in now.

Just a Gibson Les Paul standard into my FM3 and one of my own made presets based on the Soldano SLO 100w amp.

Awesome I love the creativity so far!

I forgot I made a video of part 2 of my piece:

Sadly, I've not had a free full day any weekend during this one and won't this weekend, so it's highly unlikely I'll get one ready. Shame as it is a great backing track.
Entry closes tomorrow at midnight.

I could carry it over to next month to await more entries. What do @fastonebaz and @Axe2Grind think?

I think yeah carry it over a month.
Carried over until midnight 24th December. I wonder if I'll see Santa.

Got a backing track or two brewing...will drop you an email.

I have some brewing in my mind but am going through a period of monk-like playing abstinence currently following a fairly hectic run of gigging.  Will get back to recording once I've reached reset nirvana.
I've now got a couple in the stockpile, so no rush.

Finally got round to doing one. Sent in.
...Sent in.
It's in the playlist.

Just sent one in. Ibanez AZ2402 into an Andy Wood Helix preset. All the shredded cheese that I could muster - I feel it was needed.

Snap, mine was an AZ2402 and Helix Native.

Where did you get your Andy Wood preset?

Can’t go wrong with that combination!

He sells presets via his website, or you get them automatically if you’re in the upper tiers of his Patreon, which is how I got them. They’re pretty good but I probably wouldn’t have paid for them on their own.
Just submitted mine, now listening to everyone else's ... I should have maybe practiced a bit more. Ah well, got something out into the world at least!
Just submitted mine...

Entry closes tonight at midnight.

Entry closed. Merry Xmas.
