There was nothing passive about it.

Can we change it about a bit?

'Buck Changer.... Bang for the Game'

'Buck Banger ... Change for the Game'

etc...

Game changing thread, this

I get that terms like ‘game changer’ get thrown around a lot, especially by YouTubers. But I don’t subscribe to the idea that this means we can’t still use them meaningfully when discussing gear that genuinely stands out.

In the case of the new Paint Audio product, I was asking whether it could be a game changer because it’s doing something very different that could have a big impact on many musicians’ gigs. I think it has the potential to change the way I approach things live, but I’m really interested to hear what others think and how they might implement it.

This is a great place to discuss new tools and ideas openly and in good faith, without obsessing over the semantics of how certain words are used elsewhere.

@jamesguitar regardless, the clickbait titles feel more than a bit unnecessary, no? This place isn’t YouTube or The Daily Mail…

I understand your perspective, but I don’t agree using descriptive, colloquial terminology in a post title constitutes ‘unnecessary clickbait’. The Daily Mail comparison also comes across as ad hominem and doesn't contribute constructively to the conversation.

I don’t think we’re advancing the discussion here, but I invite you to either engage with the substance of my posts or ignore them. Otherwise, let’s focus on good faith, substantive discussions and avoid debating which words are acceptable.

Engaging with the posts would be easier without the clichéd hyperbole.
I think Lee already changed one of the thread titles for this reason. It’s not worth getting wound up about

Respectfully, I think you’re missing the point, or that we’re not quite making it well enough:

As you say, this is a good forum - made that way by a combination of the people who post on it and the information and insights that produces.

Other article sites used to be good. YouTube used to be less awful. Both alienate a large part of their (previous) users with a slide in to templated, hyperbolic, misleading, clickbaity (take your pick from a combination of any or all) content.

There are whole websites on topics that genuinely interest me (F1, Rugby, news) that I straight up no longer go to or click on headlines for.

There are YouTubers who I used to subscribe to but now completely ignore because it became impossible to tell what parts of their vastly increasing output were going to be of interest (or stay on the topic of the title) without wasting time I didn’t want to spare - all because of the slide toward creator-speak.

Personally, as a result my defences are on high alert - I don’t want that slide here. I don’t think I’m alone.

I’m genuinely sorry if that seems hurtful, I’m laying it out in a genuine effort to explain why there are a few of us calling it out lately. It’s not personal - it’s protective of the forums culture.

I was going to post a "10 Things You Didn't Know About The Guitar That Will Astound You" article / thread, but in view of this I have decided not to.

You "invite us to engage"? This is a forum, no invite needed. It is not a debate about "which words are acceptable ", it's about whether the hyped up nature of the posts fits in with the honest nature of the forum.

You've had feedback that these posts are a bit off and you're tone deaf.

Mostly on the ads for years then suddenly a few posts that look like influencer bait. Are you being paid or otherwise compensated for these?

While we’re at it can we stop with the New Guitar Day threads with 57 words abbreviated in the title?

I am tempted to tell you all the shocking truth about clickbait titles, and content providers will hate me for it, but I don't want to lead the thread off on a tangent.

The  ahem, incendiary titles are themselves a data point indicating bad faith. The tone of the posts may not follow through and OP may be polite and reasoned in discussion but he has repeatedly failed to reflect on feedback.

I hope that this is resolved amicably but if not I will have to make a post along the lines of  I'M STEPPING BACK (WHY THE ALGORITHM PUNISHES SMALL CHANNELS AND CONTENT CREATORS) or ISB(WTAPSCACC).

From now on, every new thread should start with this sort of image.

The side placement of the footswitch (next to the strap button) on that black "Qey" pedal on the right and the coaxial flexi-connector between it and the silver one with the tuning machine posts for switches definitely looks like a game changer.

Catchy title ain't nothing without some pointing and/or a YouTube face!
