Lyric writer and general fixer/dogsbody for King Crimson in their earliest incarnation. His mate Barry Godber did the cover painting for the iconic Court of the Crimson King album. Sinfield also produced Roxy Music’s first album among other things, like writing the lyrics for Land of Makebelive for Bucks Fizz.
RIP.

Just heard this. Early King Crimson was great enough, but the first Roxy Music album was epic, Buck's Fizz maybe a little less game changing  ;)
RIP creative Pete.

Didn’t he produce that Celine Dion song, the one where the voice morphs into the guitar solo?

I actually bought his solo album (Still), back in the 70's, as I loved his work with King Crimson so much.  RIP.

I was big on King Crimson back in the 80s! Great lyrics for the band. I didn't realise that he was still around

He also wrote lyrics for Emerson Lake & Palmer from Brain Salad Surgery onwards, which is where I'm most familiar with him.

RIP :(

Eighties KC lyrics would have been Adrian Belew.

Weirdly, this was just announced on tonight's Radio 4's 7.00pm news.
Double takes were observed.
Edit: this might account for it,  https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp3n8qeq7lwo
