Computer Music Magazine

Many years ago I bought a copy with a free version (older than what the current version was at the time) of Logic on the cover CD.it. It was called something like MicroLogic AV, from a German company years before they were acquired by Apple. I installed it on my blueberry iMac and thought it was fantastic - compared to my Tascam Portastudio! There was an option to upgrade to the fancy current version for something like £25, and I’ve been using Logic ever since. I wasn’t a regular buyer of the magazine, but that low-cost introduction to the new world of DAWs,VST plugins, and free samples was great.
Most of the musician magazines have died or are in the process of over the last couple of months.
It's very hard to compete with things like YouTube where you get multiple comprehensive video walkthroughs on the day something is announced.

I bought CM for years, right from the first issue, and read it every month until it closed. Future Music has gone to the wall too, another mag I liked. Musictech folded a few years ago. There are few mags like this around now. I'd imagine apps like Readly don't help (and I am guilty of using that one too).
The CM specials were always good as well.

Sad times, I used to read CM & Music Tech fairly regularly, although given that reading this thread is the first I've heard of either's demise probably shows that frequency has taken a nose dive...
One of the staff from Music Tech contacted me years ago and used a picture I took of my set up on the cover of issue 179.

I originally wound up on MR from the computer music forums. Shame to see it go but I guess it was inevitable.
This is a shame as it was a great magazine which I enjoyed despite not being the target market.
What am I going to recommend to newbies wanting plugins now.
Also feel for the staff though I believe that they are going to work for Music radar now.
