This should be no different to using a stock tele bridge pickup ~ should it?

Yes but the what you get from the preset honk tone mode depends on your choice of capacitor values and how hot the pickup is.

Typically, a Telecaster circuit has A250k pots whereas the P90 requires A500k.

Parts I’m using  this time are -

▪️ Tonerider Vintage 90 -  7.9k

▪️ .022uF cap  ( recommended by Tonerider )

▪️  ?? Cap ( recommendations? )

▪️  CTS A 500k
▪️  CTS B 500k

I’ve another 2 Esquires’  both with the Eldred mod, and both as you described above, with .047uF and .0047uF caps.

With that in mind?   Would a  .0022uF  be best suited with what I’m using?

The only valid answer to the cap value question is to experiment until you hear the degree of filtering "honk" that you desire.

The usual advice is to temporarily connect a capacitor into circuit using crocodile clips. Try whichever values you have to hand.

Alternatively, solder an EMG-style two-pin block into circuit where the filtering cap should go. Push the "legs" of the capacitor on test into the sockets of the block connector. Try lots of different values. Make a note of which values please your ear. Experiment until you settle on one favourite value.

It's certainly the best place to start. Whether it's the optimal value depends on what you want to hear, as Funkfingers said.
