Here’s an opportunity to own a rare and exquisite Simon Fay Model One.

Simon is one of the great modern luthiers and he focuses all of his attention and expertise on making just this one model.

The guitar was completed in August 2017 for the Acoustic Music Company (TAMCO) in Brighton where I worked for a few years until the shop’s owner retired.

It was one of a handful of my favourite fingerstyle guitars - from more than 200 high-end handmade single luthier instruments - that I played during my time at TAMCO. I missed out on it first time round but managed to purchase it 4 years ago.

It features the following upgrades over a standard Model One:

a Mastergrade Engelmann Spruce top
increasingly rare Black & White Ebony back and sides
a Wenge tile rosette
a Florentine cutaway

I’ve spent many happy hours playing and writing with this inspiring guitar but I have kept in it perfect condition in a humidified case.

It needs a new home as increasingly arthritic hands are restricting me to playing smaller guitars with narrower necks. Hence I’m looking for either a straight sale or a trade against a high-end parlour, size O or OO.
