What does cheapish mean, does it have to be hardware, does it have to have a keyboard?
It's a Roland Fantom so it's probably a Zen Core patch which loads of Roland devices have like for example the MC-101.

No, the MC-101 is a groovebox with the Zen Core engine.
If you want something with keys then a Gaia 2 or a Juno DS would be better, but out of your price range.
If it doesn't have to be Roland and you want keys then a Reface CS, Microkorg, Minilogue, Deep Mind, Mini Freak. Any of them will do that kind of sound.
If it doesn't have to be hardware then a VST like Pigments, Diva, Dune, etc.
Thanks @monquixote I used to have a Microkorg, so will revisit. I have a Microfreak, so will look for some tutorials on how to create that lofi kind of string sound.

Syntorial is very good if you want a synth tutorial.
Usually if you want the low fi sound you just put a bit of tape sim on it. Something like Super VHS which was on a crazy offer will do that.
If you have a micro freak you should be able to do a lot although it's paraphonic and wavetable so you may struggle with the warmer sounds compared to VA, or real analogue

+1 for microkorg xl as it’s pretty cheap and has a pc editor which makes programming sounds a lot easier . Yiu can also split or layer stuff

The synth in the video is a Fantom X-series - i.e. quite old and now quite cheap. Many patches were shared with others of the same engine: Sonic Cell (perhaps £250), XR (bit more), etc.
Bet you'd find the same patch in the FA-06, too, and they must be under £500 now?

If you want budget vintage string machine sounds then Behringer Solina or vc340 must be on the list to consider.
Just seen you can get the vc340 new delivered for £341 now, which is less than I bought mine 2nd hand a few years ago!
Solina is cheaper but a module.

The Behringer VC340 sounds pretty good, but don't think I would buy it just for that sound. The Minilogue. I might opt for that.
How does the bass player play with his left thumb in that position? He's doing a great job, mind.
