Tribal people react to ‘In The Air Tonight’

Well, they were a lot more insightful than "It's a good song that", especially Abdul. An interesting cultural perspective as you say.
Was it like this?

Okay, after all the clickbait discussions etc recently, I seem to have something in my eye...

Thanks from me too, I enjoyed that a lot.
Man just out of shot "I preferred the Gabriel era ..."
Good job it's a drum-centric vid then!axisus said:Man just out of shot "I preferred the Gabriel era ..."
I always wanted to do a reaction channel called Prion Thumb that would literally just be a face drawn on my thumb....for this song it would be this face :-/
For me it's one of those songs like Ultravox's Vienna, which sounded amazing at the time but I now don't feel that I ever want to hear again.PolarityMan said:I always wanted to do a reaction channel called Prion Thumb that would literally just be a face drawn on my thumb....for this song it would be this face :-/
This was the only time it sounded any good...axisus said:For me it's one of those songs like Ultravox's Vienna, which sounded amazing at the time but I now don't feel that I ever want to hear again.PolarityMan said:I always wanted to do a reaction channel called Prion Thumb that would literally just be a face drawn on my thumb....for this song it would be this face :-/

For me it was more about the Tribal people rather than who was the best singer in Genesis.

Watched this yesterday. Brilliant documentary and reminded me how much I love Phil Collins' music.
The "Tribal People" videos are far better "reaction" ones than just about every other reaction video I have ever seen and, as mentioned above, it demonstrates how different cultures respond to music and other cultural aspects that are outside their own fields of knowledge and experience.
Whenever the English speaking younger man mentions that the featured artist is dead, they always offer a sincere sounding statement of condolence. The cultural differences are quite apparent in this particular video where the presenter tells the others about Phil Collins having been married and divorced 3 times, and one responds: "Such a poor man. What a fate!" Without getting too deeply into the patriarchal aspect of some cultures, the first consideration for these people is how it affected the husband, and less so how it affected the wives.
I have noticed that they pay far more attention to the lyrics of songs than I would say that we "Westerners" do, and they tend to try and find a deeper meaning behind them than perhaps even the lyricist was thinking. That probably comes from having been part of an ancient culture of story telling through music where the words tend to be of more importance than the music. You never hear them openly criticising or ridiculing any of the artists, and in the Michael Jackson - Black or White reaction when they were being told of his background, one of them said "God's creation can never be wrong and defected, so no one should make fun of others". In general they are very respectful in the way they fashion their thoughts and explanations, but I do remember that when the old man with the white beard saw images of Hitler in Michael Jackson's Man In The Mirror video he said something like "You can easily see what a bastard he was".
