Just put a w.t.b ad on here ,but was wanting to know if can i take a 3.5 to 3.5 jack lead out of the headphone socket and connect it to a little speaker so i don't have to wear headphones all the time ? Anyone done it ? I guess the sound quality will be a mixed bag depending on how good your speaker is.

Yes you can do that.  Like you said - your speaker will determine the sound quality but same can be said about headphones as well.  If you have an adapter you can even hook up the Mustang Micro to your amp if you wanted to.

You can usually drive a speaker directly from a headphone jack - the only exception would be if it's specifically designed for high-impedance headphones and you connect a standard 8-ohm speaker. Even then it's unlikely to do any harm, it just won't produce a usable level. The actual power required for 'bedroom' volume is very low, into any reasonably efficient speaker - a few tens of milliwatts at the most, usually less.

Depending on how the headphone output is voiced, a hi-fi speaker might be more suitable than a guitar speaker, but both should work. I run an old 1950s Goodmans hi-fi speaker ('mid-fi' by modern standards really) directly from the headphone output of my workshop computer, and it's loud enough to easily fill the room. Admittedly the speaker is 3' tall, has a 12" bass driver and weighs as much as a hefty guitar cab...
