Anyone here post guitar covers on youtube ? Advice on how to get started pls

I use the Nux mighty plug practice amp and my webcam. I set the webcam to take audio from the Nux and hit record. It's quick, easy and honest. I've recorded and uploaded videos in less than 10 minutes sometimes.
So you stream the mp3 on your Mighty Plug (via bluetooth I'm assuming), and basically the audio that goes to your webcam is the song + your guitar? I think I can do something similar with my set up.Danny1969 said:I use the Nux mighty plug practice amp and my webcam. I set the webcam to take audio from the Nux and hit record. Is your webcam integrated to your PC/laptop or is it one of those separate one? Mine's integrated so I'm just trying to think how I can set it to take audio from a line in, instead of laptop mic.
Mines integrated - a Macbook but you can do the same thing on a Windows laptop. Most of the videos I do are just my guitar, no backing track but if I do use a BT then yes BT and my guitar go into the video as it's being recorded.
I started off posting guitar covers a similar way to Danny, via my Focusrite with all audio going into the laptop via that, including the track streamed off spotify via a line input. Record the video via webcam then that's all the audio and video together.
Now I like a bit more of a polished product so I record all my audio first into Reaper DAW with the backing audio then film on my Smartphone as the camera is decent. I do around 3-4 different angles then sync it together with the audio.
Takes longer obviously but more interesting to watch and means I can concentrate on perfecting my guitar recording and then not worry about it affecting my performance when filming it.
Plus I use a few lights and RGB's just to add that studio aesthetic. With some colour grading the video looks a bit more visually appealing.

Thanks for the advice guys. I did a test run this evening and got it working on a basic level without a DAW as per @Danny1969 above (i.e. guitar + backing track > multi fx > USB interface > Windows laptop webcam).
I have to use an interface because my laptop doesn't have a line in. Only problem is I can only hear the audio when playing back the recorded video. So the inputs definitely work at least. But for some reason there's no audio coming out of the laptop before and during recording. So I have to do a workaround by plugging my monitors (which are normally plugged to my laptop) directly into my interface instead. Then it gets stupid because audio of the recorded video then only comes out of my shitty laptop speakers obviously as my monitors are not plugged to my laptop anymore.
I think I'm gonna have to plug headphones to my interface to hear myself playing, and plug my monitors back to my laptop.

What's wrong with plugging your monitors into your audio interface? It is standard practice. When you watch the video just tell your laptop to output sound via the audio interface, not via its internal soundcard.LionAquaLooper said:Thanks for the advice guys. Yea that doesn't work on mine for some reason. I don't know whether it's the drivers, compatibility issue or something else. But this whole thing has given me the impetus to sort it out by hook or by crook because getting guitar audio and video audio to come out of the same source is the most ideal scenario.
Will be a great start to the new year ,well done look forward to watching happy xmas
A compatible audio interface plugged into an iPad or iPhone will be picked up for the audio when recording a video.. great at gigs. Sorted in one shot.
Funny you should say this because I'm currently now trying all this on my iPad to see if it fares better than my windows laptop.Stratavarious said:A compatible audio interface plugged into an iPad or iPhone will be picked up for the audio when recording a video.. great at gigs. Sorted in one shot.
It’s very effective… and handy to know… any class compliant USB audio interface or mixer will replace the internal mic on Apple when filming. No drivers needed.LionAquaLooper said:Funny you should say this because I'm currently now trying all this on my iPad to see if it fares better than my windows laptop.Stratavarious said:A compatible audio interface plugged into an iPad or iPhone will be picked up for the audio when recording a video.. great at gigs. I do it with OBS. Brilliant free program.
Bass into helix (or other interface and tone generator), then set the audio inputs in OBS to the interface and system audio (iTunes/youtube/whatever) and balance them. Video input from my webcam.
Once set up it can be saved to be used again.
If you want to superimpose yourself over the YouTube vid of the song you are doing, that is just another 5 mins to set up. Works best with a green screen. Doesn’t have to be expensive, just a big green sheet will do it.

I play a backing track through my monitors or headphones and record the audio through Reaper whilst using my mobile phone to record the video with the audio. I process the audio in Reaper to my liking and render Wav file. Then I use Da Vinci Resolve to edit the video from my phone and audio from Reaper syncing up via the phone video audio and polishing the video, before exporting to Mp4 and uploading to socials.
Takes a while but gives best flexibility to manage audio and video properly.

Bear in mind that virtually no bugger will ever watch your video, and those that do will criticise.
Ha, trust me I know this. For one I'm not even as good as the better ones out there whose videos don't get watched and get criticised! But I'm not really going to do it for the views or likes. More for friends and family, and also to build up a "resume" of what I can do in case they want to recruit me for a gig or two. Mates of mine do this and it does seem to help them.axisus said:Bear in mind that virtually no bugger will ever watch your video, and those that do will criticise.
Apparently TikTok is the place for viral views of guitar videos. Literally you can whack up a live phone recording take of about 10 seconds of playing and it'll get loads of views if its a song that's trending at the moment.axisus said:Bear in mind that virtually no bugger will ever watch your video, and those that do will criticise.
I've thought about setting up an account (I don't have one I use YT/Insta currently) as it may boost lesson enquiries.
Thing is people's attention spans are so short everything is like 10 seconds (and even that's too long) these days.
Yes I've heard the same but that's a hard no. I'm never signing up to TikTok. I personally believe that's a product created by some arm of the Chinese government. But that's for a different thread :) I can only handle one enemy state at the time so for now I'm going to stick with the old enemy - the good ol boys of Americuuuh.Lestratcaster said:Apparently TikTok is the place for viral views of guitar videos. Yeah what's holding me back is whatever's not in trend won't be viewed. And what is currently in trend is going to be old news by tomorrow, til the next big thing comes along.LionAquaLooper said:Yes I've heard the same but that's a hard no. For all the time and effort I put into my videos I think I deserve a better return.
I go with Tik Tok for guitar vids....they are on my YT as shorts as well but Tik Tok gets 10 x views.
As for trends...well my most viewed at 28k is a Status Quo intro, then Skids at 24k and SLF at 23k....so take from that what you want.
If you just want a bit of fun and some views ...its TikTok all the way...forget the Chinese, we are all being watched anyway ;-)

Might be tempted to become a TickyTocker in January to give this thing a go then lol
Small update: I've now come to the realisation i'm better off doing this on my iPad than my laptop.
For one, my laptop's integrated webcam is as HD as a potato.
Second, per the brilliant suggestions above, plugging interface to iPad disables iPad mic and therefore recording a video simply on the native Camera app will then take audio input from interface automatically.
Then I found out earlier I can actually do the same on my Android phone which is even better for me.
Even found a decent Android DAW app along the way called "n-Track" if I wanted to do mixdowns, overdubs etc. If you haven't already, I recommend checking it out.

How much money can be made from playing guitar covers, on onlyfans, in the nude?

Let me check my bank account and let you know.
Using a Harley Benton guitar? Not much.fastonebaz said:How much money can be made from playing guitar covers, on onlyfans, in the nude?
Flying V? Shitloads.
I’m sure that depends on if you are male or female…fastonebaz said:How much money can be made from playing guitar covers, on onlyfans, in the nude?
Go away OFCOM, nothing to see here!
Ideally what I'd like to be able to do is to record audo and video in one take instead of recording audio and video separately and mixing them together into one video file. Is this possible?
