1990 Vibroverb ri speaker swap recommendation

Sorry for long winded title!
Finally landed one of these that was on my bucket list  and man, what a great amp.
I have Two Rocls and Matchless amps and this holds its own. Fantastic but the stock Oxfarts are crap at any volume above 4 (Which is a huge part of the fun of this amp).
I've done a small bit of research and have found online recommendations for Ragin Cajuns and emi 1058k/1028 (iirc) but what I'm looking for is real world experiences!
What would/have you thrown into your VV?
Thanks!

I'd go with a pair of the emi 1028s. I've never tried a VV but I have a pair of those, emi ga sc64s and wgs vet 10s which I like to mix and match in a super reverb. I also remember they sounded particularly nice in a 66 Vibrolux I used to have.

The vets are the least efficient, the sc64s the most and the 1028s somewhere in between. The sc64s could be a nice choice but might be a bit middy in a VV. The 1028s are wonderful clean and hold together well and are quite smooth when pushed, also nice and light.

I use a combo of a 1028 and 1058k sounds great! Id be tempted to try the G10 suggest too as I findly remember using a G10 in a princeton.

Welcome to the VV RI club, wonderful amps. Remember the tone controls work differently to every other fender
Thanks for the suggestions.. I play mostly on the dirtier side of things... I must admit I was wondering about the golds but have heard that there can have a nasally, locked wah type of sound?
I'm really quite shocked at how.nice sounding the amp is....I haven't tried it with a les paul yet... Will it be as good as I hope?!!

What are you looking for? Classic Fender tones, more modern (=higher powered speakers), more British (Celestions)?
We had a customers Vibroverb in for a repair (blown OT) he had two Celestion 10" speakers, forgot the number but I seem to remember greenback type?? anyway this was one of the best little fender combo's I have played. Could have twiddled away as time stood still.

By comparison we had a Vibrolux Custom (also 2 x 10) in at the same time that was very uninspiring.

The Emi 1058 sounded good in a tweed bassman I built a few years ago. A different sound though.

Was that the reissue vibroverb? Got me thinking about some G10 greenbacks now for a change!

It was a very beaten up re-issue and the speakers were well played in.

If you have one I would highly recommend getting a HT fuse fitted. The one here needed new output transformer and power valves. Those output transformers use quite thin wire and can overheat easily with a faulty power valve.

I'll pull out the chassis and see if it already been done, what should I look for? ;)

Just out of curiosity, was the tolex completely missing on one end? And with G10-60s with M-size magnets. If so I know that amp…

I didn't get a photo, I don't remember the tolex missing but the grill cloth was completely gone and I offered to sort it and he didn't want that. It is owned by a guitarist touring with a famous 80s band.

Not the same one. It would have been funny if it was!
