Fostner bits

Only made acoustics but planning a tele and possibly a jag. Seems like I need at least one forstner bit. Something like this a bit rubbish or perfectly useable?

If so should I buy single quality ones? If so what do I need?

Thanks all.

I reckon the Axminster set will be well worth the extra.

They do singles too. There's better out there, but then you're spending more than the janky Amazon set on each.
You really don't need a set - and those are too cheap to be much good.
I bought one Bosch 20mm years ago and it still cuts fine after a lot of use
Definitely buy the sizes you need as you go, the cheap ones wear out really quickly but the Bosch and other quality brands do some to go on well

Great, got the wisdom thanks, I never regret quality tools...

What single bit would you buy for a thinline tele?

I'd get at the very least a 22mm for jack sockets. Preferably also a small one 12-15mm and a larger 30-40mm. One lets you get into smaller places, the other does bulk hogging out.

Cheapies can be rough and not true-running, very nasty in use. Although some can be good it is a lottery. Fisch are good, same for their brad point drill bits, I also have Axi and Bosch among others.
I bought these from Screwfix several years ago and were much better than I expected, however for a couple of jobs I filed the starter point down, just be wary of this if the depth you are drilling is a bit marginal.

Bit late but I bought a single Famag bit for my last build, a million times better than the screwfix set I had before, cuts like butter, straight and doesn't get hot and burn. I imagine the bosch ones are decent too.
