When is your last working day before Xmas?
Comments
It was last Friday, but I was working on Saturday and Sunday and I'm working today (with an intermission to be typing this).
No, it was mostly clothing to fashion chains but also miscellaneous non-fashion stuff to other chains of stores like perfume, vapes, bathroom supplies, a certain chain that makes custom stuffed bears, and foodstuffs to hospital shops, however the company I worked for did supply outdoor clothing and camping gear to concessions within some of the larger garden centres. Glad I'm not working now. It was a shit-show towards the end with too many meddling directors upstairs and inept planners downstairs.Brio said:@BillDL do you supply the Squires Garden Centre chain? We're shut Boxing Day but our branch is one jf the chosen ones doing New Year's Day.
Had a load of holiday to use up so I've been off since the 13th and haven't thought about work once, its been perfect!
Office today instead of usual Monday WFH, but WFH tomorrow instead of office and I suspect it may not be the fullest of days.
I’m very busy Xmas Eve and Xmas morning, checking out a few chimneys, but then off for the next 12 months.
Mine was last Thursday , and I'll be off till 3rd Jan.
Time to spend resting, spending time with my girlfriend who has flown in for Xmas and time with mum and family too .
Look forward to seeing you all again in the NY , but till then having a bit of ME time
So far I've had 5 "urgent" calls and 4 "urgent" emails which all could have waited.darthed1981 said:Something like this for me as well.munckee said:Finished on Friday until after New Year but there is no one to do my job so if there is something urgent I’ll have to deal with it.
Made it clear to everyone it better be an emergency.... server down, edi not working etc... not some tossers laptop "a bit slow".
Tomorrow. Then off til Saturday. I could have taken the whole week off if I wanted but I didn't. Not a big celebrator of Christmas anyway so would be getting bored after 2 days.
Finished last Thursday, but I'm emergency contact for a good few people, as well as security contact, so I did lose an hour of my Saturday and expect a few more disturbances.
Don't mind though. So glad to have a break.

'Working' today and tomorrow then off until Fri 3rd.
I really should've just taken today and tomorrow off as annual leave. Working from home with zero motivation or incentive. Basically clock watching. I tried to run through some training only to find the training manual my team put together is out of date. Then tried to wing it and found that the permissions configuration across our systems isn't set up correctly. Wish I hadn't looked now - can't unsee...

Might go back to what I'm supposed to be doing which is putting together the team's workplan for Q4, which is basically the same as it was for Q3 because we don't appear to have progressed anything that were supposed to.
My manager is randomly sending me messages about the potential for CoPilot use cases in my team's work area - subtle hints of what 2025's main white elephant is going to be. I hate Council IT...
I’m on nights this week . It’s my 24th year with the Emergency services and I’ve probably had 6 Xmas’ off in all that time , it’s just another working day.
Finished on Thursday, back on 6th. The joys of working for yourself……and the joys of unpaid holidays!!
Finished on Saturday 21st, back on January 3rd.
The other shop manager actively wanted to work the Christmas week to escape her in-laws, so I don't have to :).

Have hung up the work clothes, at least for the next few months. Testing out a bit of retirement
I hope you have a quiet Christmas then Stuart!sticker said:I’m on nights this week . It’s my 24th year with the Emergency services and I’ve probably had 6 Xmas’ off in all that time , it’s just another working day.
Hope it gets better once you’ve finished work.
How long have you worked at Squires? I did a stint (20 years ago!)Brio said:@BillDL do you supply the Squires Garden Centre chain? We're shut Boxing Day but our branch is one jf the chosen ones doing New Year's Day.
I'm working tomorrow then off till 2nd Jan.
Tomorrow. Back on 2nd.
Fellow self-pitying Emergency Servs worker here! 12 hours of graft for me on Xmas Day, but least it's a relief shift (10:30-22:30) and not a night shift.sticker said:I’m on nights this week . (I actually don't really care. I've never really been arsed about Xmas, always seems way more hassle than it's worth, don't have kids or much of an extended family so I've never really had much need to celebrate.)
Merry Xmas to you all though, don't want to bring your mood down! =)
Last Wednesday. Looking forward to a 2 and a half week break over the festive period.
Working every day now until the 27th off til 3rd after that, kids homes can't shut for Chrimbo!
I mean, technically you can shut, though I guess possibly you shouldn't.jonnyburgo said:Working every day now until the 27th off til 3rd after that, kids homes can't shut for Chrimbo!

@enjo two years.
Working today back in work 27th. It's sort of by choice as my team have children and mine are grown up. I didn't work a Monday in Nov and Dec and carried over 5 days, so it's not like I'm hard done by.
Go on, show the rest of class your macaroni art.fretmeister said:I have finished!

Make of that what you will.
