I never ask for guitar stuff because I find guitar themed things incredibly tacky.
But I did ask for a new string winder and she got me a D'Addario pro winder, which was nice.

Wife got me a Draper rotary tool kit

Got a great we tip on YouTube of taping a fretboard protector either side with painters tape so the protector stays put and reveals most of the fret

So managed a quick try out using a wee felt pad and Peek metal polish on a project guitar neck , fret came up beautifully

Made my Xmas …

but what I really wanted was this in lefty… unobtainium … even from Gibson.

Nope… it looks quite a nice replica … but I want the real deal … hilariously I emailed Gibson, showed them my guitar and serial number and they refused to sell me a replacement truss rod cover ( mine was cracked when I bought it). They must have hundreds in their factory… but nope, no actual part # and they won’t sell me one. Almost unbelievable.

That’s a joke… really daft.. you’d think that they would love to take your money.. I imagine they’d charge about forty quid

I had an number of epiphanies including:

Facebook has become a marketing tool for bots so I'll be deactivating that again soon

You'd don't have to catch up with some people just because they are in your neck of the woods

finding the right people to make music with is increasingly difficult as you get older so do it solo

2025 will be an interesting year

Oh, and I got a jumper and some G1 transformers models

Yep, it is light on the details, apparently a '65 or' 66 model, although there's no serial number on the neck plate, so who knows! It looks, sounds and plays great though, and cost about half the price they usually go for, so that's the trade-off, I suppose!
A range of music and non-music related stuff this year...

- Flower Pedals Sunflower tremolo.
- Elixr strings.
- Some interesting music books - Nick Drake, Stewart Copeland, Jerry Lee Lewis.
- A nice bottle of brandy.
- Gym clothes from my son (think he's embarrassed by my 'dad' gym gear).
- Smart clothes from my wife (think she's embarrassed by my desire to live in jeans and a t-shirt, whatever the occasion).
- SRV, Scott Matthews and Jason Isbell CDs.
- Ben Howard vinyl LP.
- Various bits of DIY gear. Probably optimism on the part of the purchaser and also myself for enthusiastically receiving them.
- A bunch of other stuff that I neither need or can remember tbh.
- A few days ago now, but an unexpected invitation from a very old friend to go and watch the Fury-Usyk fight at his house was a lovely surprise.

I feel very lucky and rather spoilt. :-)
