Nice score
Cool.
I think that’s what they called a GS2. I’ve got a GS1.60 from around then. Really good guitars, basic finish, but playability and feel is very nice.
Will post more pics when I'm back at home. But yes, plays really well. Didn't know what to expect when I went to check it out. Loved it immediately.springhead said:I think that’s what they called a GS2. I’ve got a GS1.60 from around then. Really good guitars, basic finish, but playability and feel is very nice.
I had the semi-hollow version of this, think it was called the Gypsy. Push-pull coil taps on both tone controls and a height-adjustable brass nut.
My volume pots are push pull. And yes, height adjustable brass nut.Keefy said:I had the semi-hollow version of this, think it was called the Gypsy. Push-pull coil taps on both tone controls and a height-adjustable brass nut.
I think it's GS.1 single humbucker, GS1.5 humbucker + single coil & GS.2 = 2x humbucker.springhead said:I think that’s what they called a GS2. I’ve got a GS1.60 from around then. Really good guitars, basic finish, but playability and feel is very nice.
Neighbour has one, played it for 5 mins and really liked it.
I had one with P90s. It sounded like a buzz machine. Nonconductive paint did nothing. Lollars did everything, sounded ace. I regret selling it, which I did on here.
If you get in touch with GS (Auden) they have a little black book with all the serial numbers and built dates / details in it.
You can make contact via the fb Gordon Smith page.
I wonder what the new ones are like - No one really talks about them, but they look great.
Sehr schön, freue mich für dich.
I've got three GS guitars, all made since Auden took over the brand. Great quality - that's why I've now got three ;)Schnozz said:I wonder what the new ones are like - No one really talks about them, but they look great.
Very much like the old ones but with nicer, more consistent levels of finish and general attention to detail.Schnozz said:I wonder what the new ones are like - No one really talks about them, but they look great.
Which is nice, because they always used to be competent instruments but with a bit of a utilitarian, “workmanlike” vibe.
Adding a bit of extra polish to the package has lifted them significantly in the desirability stakes while still keeping the charm, and they’ve managed to keep them pretty affordable.

it‘s pretty much what it looks like, a cross between an SG and a Les Paul jr..
Karma wanted me to get it. I was always curious about these.
Went to visit a friend in Berlin. Had a short look at Berlin’s classified ads and there she was.
