Anyone had strings made into a gift?

Anyone had strings made into a gift for someone? 

I was left a guitar this year by a late friend.  The guitar needs restringing as it won't stay in tune. I'm thinking of having the old strings made into a gift for his mum.

Any ideas or recommendations for a someone that can do this?

Someone was selling a Joe Perry bracelet on here a while ago. That site might give you some inspiration. Look up unis and colleges that do jewellery courses and see if a student could make it for you?

In my teens I made a necklace for a girl friend using a flat wound bass string.

I did the same, for my ex, but the police with torches arrived just as I was going to wrap it around her neck from behind in that alley  :)

Somebody who worked at my local guitar shop would save the ball ends from the old strings she changed. These were sorted into the various sizes and colours, ready to be turned into bracelets.
