If you don’t need the extra power it shouldn’t be difficult to get one of the UK builders to make a 2x12” Bassman, since all the other parts are standard (although it would need a 4-ohm OT rather than the 2-ohm Bassman one).

That’s a good shout - to be fair, when I play at home, I use captor X’s and either studio monitors or IEM’s and when I do use the speakers and move air, it’s in a separate room / behind or off stage so the volume doesn’t really impact me or my hearing as I’m not close to it.Lebarque said:I would recommend earplugs!

I have a Gartone JTM45 head & 2x12 cab. It’s a superb sounding amp & also impeccably well put together, with top shelf components.
I've been thinking about getting a 4x10 cab to get closer to Bassman tones.
I don’t think you could go wrong with either Rift or Gartone.
Do you really need that much power though?!

The 5E8-A is a completely different circuit - different input section, different tone stack and a cathodyne phase inverter (like a 5E3 Deluxe) not long-tailed pair (like a 5F6-A Bassman). Although there will be some minor differences due to the four power valves and bigger transformers, the 5F8-A circuit is otherwise almost identical to the 5F6-A so it should sound very similar. I would expect the biggest difference will be the speakers.Jtaylor said:

I subsequently rewatched the that pedal show episode on tweed amps which confirmed it.
I already have a Lazy J J20 but I am thinking of switching it out for a High Power Tweed Twin reissue / clone.
